This winter Mr. McClain’s 6th grade science class welcomed a special visitor from the WVU STEAM program, Ms. Angie McDaniel. Ms. McDaniel and Mr. McClain guided the students in the planning, construction, and operation of “Wiggle Bots”. The primary goals included understanding mechanical waves, wavelength and changes in action through different mediums, and the basics of robotic design. Students also learned how to change their designs to demonstrate different wave patterns, creating a variety of artwork for the classroom. The activity was such a hit that students requested an additional day the following week!

Aiden Courtney, Holly Lewis, Ethan Manspeaker, Anya Morehead, and Scotty Woody all represented Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School this weekend at the 2nd Annual Region 8 Middle School Honor Band at Philip Barbour Highschool. Under the direction of Michael Cale, the students played with other nominated players from the region on more difficult repertoire and performed a wonderful concert. We are so proud of these talented budding musicians at our school.

Today in 7th grade, students inMrs. Butler's art class explored stop motion animation. These students created animated GIFs with random objects from the room and by step by step drawing their own photos. The students were excited to share their finished animated stories with their peers!

Mountain Cap Family Support Center Presents: WVU Extensions Family Nutrition Program on March 7, 2023.

Happy Thursday!
Actor and producer Tyler Perry said, “I don’t think the dreams die. I think people give up. I think it gets too hard.” Your school counselors want you to remember that sometimes achieving your dream IS hard, but we, your teachers, and principals are here to help you not give up! Spend some time today reflecting on some struggles you have overcome in the past and how you can learn to overcome difficult things in the future.
Remember, you can do hard things!

Thank you for supporting our school book fair!
