B-UMS is having their annual Career Extravaganza Event! Thanks so much for all of our volunteers coming and helping us make this a fantastic event for our students!
We will have our Parent Teacher Conference on March 19th from 4:00-7:00pm at B-UMS. We will also have an LSCIC town hall meeting during this time. Representatives of LCIS will be in the cafeteria if you have any suggestions or ideas for us. All are welcome! See you then!
We are incredibly proud of our talented Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School students who had the honor of representing us at the prestigious annual conference of the West Virginia Music Educators Association (WVMEA) in their All-State ensembles!
To audition for these esteemed groups, students dedicated countless hours to perfecting audition music before submitting their auditions for judging in the fall. With thousands of students from across the state vying for only a handful of spots in these elite performance groups, the competition was fierce.
Jaron Currence and Olivia Gebler shined in the All-State children's chorus under the direction of the esteemed conductor Ken Berg. Leigha Manspeaker and Scotty Woody showcased their musical talents in the inaugural all-state middle school band, led by none other than Dr. Deb Confredo, the president of the National Association for Music Educators.
After two days of rigorous rehearsals, these students delivered unforgettable performances in two beautifully executed concerts on Friday evening.
Congratulations to all of our incredible students for their hard work and dedication. Your talent and passion for music are truly inspiring! 🤍💙

B-UMS Families-Reminder Tuesday and Wednesday (3.5.24 , 3.6.24) is the WV State Writing assessment for B-UMS. Please help us help your student do their best. They need a good night’s rest, and they need to arrive to school before 7:55am. Please refrain from picking up your student during testing hours (8:00am-11:00am) as your child will be in a secure testing environment.
3.5.24 Tuesday- All 8th grade students will test as well as the Teal Sharks team in 6th grade
3.6.24 Wednesday- All 7th grade students will test as well as the Sapphire Surfers team in 6th grade

Nine talented band students from our school had the honor of representing us at the prestigious 3rd annual Region 8 Middle School Honor Band event this past weekend. These students were carefully selected to participate from schools across our district, and they came together to collaborate on challenging band repertoire under the guidance of esteemed guest conductor, composer, and educator John Brosky. The culmination of their hard work was a breathtaking concert on Saturday afternoon, which was enjoyed by the public. ✨🎶
We are immensely proud of our young musicians and their dedication to showcasing the excellence of our band program both within and beyond our school community. Their participation in events such as the Region 8 Middle School Honor Band not only highlights their individual talents but also reflects the collective strength and artistry of our entire band program.

Reminder - All tryouts/practices begin this Monday, February 26.
Baseball: 6:00 - 8:30 in the B-UMS gym or at the high school baseball field. Weather dependent. Listen for announcements.
Softball: 3:30 - 5:30 at B-UMS. Be prepared for indoor or outdoor practice.
Track: 3:30 - 5:00 at B-UMS. Bring clothes for all weather conditions.
Boys' Lacrosse: 3:30 - 5:30 at B-UMS. Put your gear in the boys PE locker room in the morning.
Girls Lacrosse: 5:00 - 6:30 at the field below the high school.
YOU MUST HAVE A SPORTS PHYSICAL DATED AFTER MAY 1, 2023 TO PARTICIPATE.

Due to popular demand and the importance of ensuring no one is left behind, the Parish House has decided to EXTEND the deadline for Easter meal applications to Friday, March 1. Please feel free to share this information (and the attached flyer) by email, social media, or any other way you see fit.

B-UMS. State testing is a little different this year than in the past. The writing portion of the state testing will take place earlier in the school year. B-UMS will be testing in the mornings of March 5th and March 6th. The reason for this is- the writing portion of the state testing will be hand scored. (Not by us-by someone else). There is more time built in to score these test. The remainder of the subjects will be testing in May as usual. Please help us help your student preform their best. Getting a good nights rest, and a healthy breakfast. Please refrain from picking up your student during testing times as your student will be in a secure testing environment and it's not to be interrupted to pull a student for pick up. Make-up testing will be completed for any students absent on the school wide testing days.
